BuCor’s Delos Santos seeks prosecution of SAF man for NBP chapel robbery
Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Benjamin Delos Santos has filed a criminal complaint against a member of the elite Police Special Action Force (SAF) who allegedly stole from the chapel of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Delos Santos made the move amid questions of the continued effectiveness of the SAF contingent at the NBP after Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II bared the revival of the narcotics trade at the national penitentiary.
“He admitted his wrongdoing and apologized that he can no longer return the money,” said Delos Santos who learned the SAF member had confessed his wrongdoing before NBP chaplain.
Delos Santos filed the complaint Thursday (July 6) before the Muntinlupa Prosecutors’ Office over allegations the SAF man took P200,000 in cash and a television set from the chapel.
“He even provided the PDL (person deprived of liberty) SAF uniforms,” said Delos Santos who noted the SAF man got the help of some inmates in doing the crime in the guise of conducting a raid.
