Rex Gatchalian promises new vehicles for Valenzuela police
Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has pledged to acquire additional 60 new vehicles for the city police to enhance their capability in ensuring peace and order.
“We allocated to give them 60 new vehicles to replace the old ones, Gatchalian told Politiko in a text message Monday.
The mayor said they are just waiting for the approval of the procurement by the city council and assured that the new vehicles will be turned over to the city police before the end of the year.
“We are still working on the green light for the financing. Actually it’s already at the the Sanggunian level, so it’s a go for sure. Everything will be in, come year end pa,” Gatchalian said.
Aside from vehicles, Gatchalian also assured the local police of additional drug and bomb sniffing dogs to strengthen the capability of the Special Reactions Unit of the Valenzuela City Police Station.
Last Friday, the Valenzuela City Police held a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) graduation for law enforcement officers who completed the 14-day SWAT Refresher Training at the ALERT (Allied Local Evacuation and Emergency Response Teams) Center in Brgy. Malinta.
During the ceremony, the local high-caliber cops shown an actual demonstration of vehicle takedown, bus assault and close quarter battle.
The SWAT Refresher Training, conducted from June 14 to June 30, was shouldered by the city government which costs PHP 158,000.
