Oh no! QC Council to ban selling junk food, sodas near schools
Students might have to walk farther just to get a bottle of cola.
The Quezon City Council has approved on Monday, May 29 a local ordinance banning the sale of junk food and sugary drinks within preparatory, elementary, and high schools there. Stores also cannot sell these goodies within a 100-meter radius of the schools, according to a copy of the rules.
Councilor Irene Belmonte said this was the city council’s way to encourage kids and teens to eat nutritious food instead of these artificial treats.
