Personalan ang labanan! Alejano sees Fariñas’ ethics rap threat as sign of authoritarian rule

Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano sees Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas’ statement about the possible filing of an ethics complaint against him as a “personal threat” arising from his plan to file a case against President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court.

In a text message to reporters Wednesday (May 17), Alejano slammed Fariñas’ remark as a “clear indication of a shaping authoritarian rule.”

“Isa yang personal na pananakot sa akin sa aking pag criticize sa administrasyong ito. This is consistent in the policy of this administration to silence opposition,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Fariñas said he may recommend the filing of an ethics complaint against Alejano if his colleague pushes through with submitting a complaint against Duterte before the ICC.

Alejano mentioned going to the ICC as a possible recourse after the House justice committee declared the impeachment complaint he filed against Duterte as insufficient in substance.
