Koko Nograles tells how screwed up MRT maintenance is

Here’s just how worthless Busan Universal Rail Inc. (BURI), the Metro Rail Transit (MRT)-3’s current maintenance provider is.

According to PBA Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles, it took BURI two whole months to do as simple a task as replacing a busted light bulb.

“If it takes BURI two months before it can actually replace a simple light bulb, just imagine how long it would take for them to replace critical spare parts needed to ensure the smooth operation of the entire train system,” Nograles said in a statement.

The politiko had earlier castigated BURI for the successive operational glitches of the train system, including a derailment last week in North Avenue. Fortunately the train was empty when it occurred.

The derailment was initially hidden from the public by the concerned officials.

The MRT-3 began operations in 1999. BURI took over maintenance of the train system last year. #
