Throwback: Kate Coseteng recalls painful campaign journey as QC councilor

It was total teleserye material with all the hard work, some betrayal, and a bucket of tears, but she made it.

First-term Councilor Kate Galang-Coseteng can still recall her struggles as she ran for office in Quezon City after transferring from Valenzuela. The politiko clearly remembers how long and tiresome that journey was, especially the number of times when people she counted on let her down.

Coseteng posted a photo from the 2016 campaign, where she was photographed beside her campaign poster as an independent candidate. She still recalls how she had to run by herself, as the friends whom she thought will support her only booted her off the slate.

“That really hurt me…. It even caused me to cry in one of my rallies. Well, I cried for more than 2 weeks… I guess i was expecting so much from certain people,” Coseteng said on Instagram.

“But my family and some of my closest friends remained loyal to me… And with God’s grace and faithfulness I emerged victorious.. And it was all well worth it,” she added.

Now, she’s on her first year as a Quezon City councilor. Congrats!

Friday #throwback💗 this photo appeared just now on my facebook wall, I can't believe its been a year since I campaigned really really hard for councilor in the 3rd district of quezon city… It was an emotional, spiritual and political roller coaster, I ran as an independent candidate in a place and in a political terrain i only heard about from julian and my mom-in-law, with no one in my family holding an incumbent position in quezon city which makes it more difficult… Everyday i struggled, yet everyday i believed.💗 I expected a lot from our friends in quezon city politics… especially those closest to us… kumparès (godparents of our kids), only to find out that there were those really close to me who i got to know and got close to even outside politics- who did not support me…even to the extent of voting me out of the strong local party for the most absurd reasons (i wont get into details, maybe next time). That really hurt me…. It even caused me to cry in one of my rallies. Well, I cried for more than 2 weeks… I guess i was expecting so much from certain people.. In church we were taught that husband and wife are one…and that you should NEVER BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS. But my family and some of my closest friends remained loyal to me… And with God's grace and faithfulness I emerged victorious.. And it was all well worth it. #toGodbetheglory
