MMDA suspends number coding from Holy Wednesday to Good Friday
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said its Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or number coding scheme will be lifted on Holy Wednesday (April 12) in line with the observance of the Holy Week.
On its official Twitter account, the MMDA also announced that the number coding scheme will be suspended on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, April 13 and 14.
“ADVISORY: In line with the observance of Holy Week, the number coding scheme will be lifted on April 12-14. Except Makati & Las Piñas. #mmda,” the MMDA said.
The MMDA also posted a list of roads that will be affected by heavy traffic during Holy Week. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
Meanwhile, some streets in Makati will be closed on Holy Wednesday (April 12) and Good Friday ( April 14) at 5 p.m. onwards due to some local Lenten events.
Roads affected include JP Rizal-Estrella Streets and Kalayaan Avenue-Valdez-Makati Avenue. These roads will also be closed on Black Saturday, April 15, from 11 p.m. onwards and on Easter Sunday, April 16, from 2 p.m. onwards.
Meanwhile, the Makati Public Safety Department announced that effective April 9 until April 16, the stretch of J.P. Rizal Avenue from Makati Avenue to Nicanor Garcia St. will be opened to two-way traffic.
During the same period, the entire stretch of Makati Avenue, from Mandaluyong to Makati Central Business District and vice versa, will also be open on both directions.
Kalayaan Avenue from east to west will also be open to two-way traffic.
