Huling papogi? MMDA’s Orbos claims credit for faster traffic
Looks like Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officer-in-charge Tim Orbos is making the most out of his 15 mins of fame.
Orbos practically claimed credit in a News To Go interview Friday (April 7) on the supposed faster travel times being experienced by motorists in the metropolis.
“Mahirap naman magbuhat ng bangko. Pero given the data by the Traffic Engineering and this has been supported by both Waze, Google at tsaka even Uber na talagang napabilis ‘yung takbo ng trapiko even by a few minutes—10 minutes at that. Malaking bagay din yon,” Orbos said.
Politiko earlier reported that Orbos, who took over the MMDA eight months ago, is already slated to be replaced by retired brigadier general Danilo “Danny” Lim.
President Rodrigo Duterte apparently made the switch after being disappointed with Orbos’s performance. This, as heavy traffic remains a huge headache of his administration despite his campaign promise of ending it.
Orbos then may just be giving himself one final pat on the back before ceding his position to Philippine Military Academy (PMA) batch 1978 graduate Lim.
A former Magdalo solider, Lim ran for a Senate seat in 2010, but lost.
Among the traffic rules being implemented by the MMDA under Orbos are the “no window hours” policy of the number coding scheme and the “nose-in, nose-out” policy on bus terminals along EDSA. #
