Bistek’s P300-M public safety, disaster preparedness investment bears fruit

Showing its focus on public safety and disaster preparedness, the Quezon City government under the administration of Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista has invested P300 million in the vital sector since 2010.

The huge investment has resulted to the construction of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Emergency Operations Center, which has improved response in crimes, traffic and most especially in times of disasters and calamities.

The Emergency Operations Center is one of the country’s most modern command centers and is designed to monitor 243 high-definition surveillance cameras within QC. It also has modern communication equipment and integrated video wall.

The cameras feature face recognition, vehicle and crowd counting, license plate recognition, flood monitoring and video image enhancement.

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte and other ASEAN leaders signed the “One ASEAN, One Response,” an agreement among Southeast Asian Nations to help each other in times of calamities.#
