Makinig kay Santo Papa! Pabillo says Pope’s message of non-violence timely for PH

The message of Pope Francis for the World Day of Peace is a timely one for the Philippines, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said.

Pabillo said he agreed with the Pope’s message that peace can be achieved by rejecting violence and cruelty.

“Maganda yung message ng ating Santo Papa tungkol sa World Day of Peace, ang message niya that peace can be brought about by means of non-violent means, non-violent sa kanyang message at totoo naman hindi naman tayo pwedeng makakuha ng kapayapaan sa pamamagitan ng paraang hindi mapayapa,” Pabillo, who chairs the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ Episcopal Commission on the Laity, said on Church-run Radyo Veritas.

“Tamang tama yan sa ating panahon ngayon na may mga taong naniniwala na magkakaroon ng kapayapaan at magkakaroon ng kaayusan sa pamamagitan ng kaguluhan, sa pamamagitan ng kamatayan, pakikipaglaban. Hindi yan ang sinabi ng Santo Papa at hindi yan ang sinabi ng ating Panginoong Hesus,” he added.

He added such peace starts with individuals and their families.

The prelate referred to Pope Francis’ homily during the Mass marking the Solemnity of Mary the Holy Mother of God and the World Day of Peace.
