‘The next logical step:’ Joy Belmonte to run for QC mayor in 2019

After serving three consecutive terms as Quezon City’s vice mayor, Joy Belmonte has confirmed she wants to run for the mayoralty post in the 2019 elections.

Belmonte made the confirmation in an interview with People Asia magazine.

“After my term, I’m going to try to run for mayor. It’s the next logical step,” she said.

With more than two years to go before the midterm elections, no name has surfaced yet as a possible formidable opponent to Belmonte, the daughter of former Speaker and now Quezon City Rep. Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr.

The incumbent mayor, Herbert Bautista, is on his third and final term at the city hall.
