Bishop seeks more prayers for Veloso
A Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines official is seeking more prayers for Mary Jane Veloso, amid the recent row over her status in Death Row in Indonesia.
CBCP Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People head Ruperto Santos maintained Veloso is a victim in this case, as she was duped by her recruiters.
Veloso has been in Indonesia’s Death Row over a drug-related offense, but her execution has so far been deferred.
On Monday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo was quoted as saying President Rodrigo Duterte gave the “go-signal” for Veloso’s execution.
Malacanang denied such a claim, saying Duterte merely said he would respect Indonesia’s judicial processes.
