Presidential sisters welcome Apec delegates’ spouses in Intramuros
In the absence of first lady, President Aquino’s sisters took the responsibility of hosting the traditional lunch for spouses of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders in Intramuros, Manila on Thursday.
After the special luncheon, presidential sisters Kris Aquino, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abelleda and Viel Aquino-Dee and the First Ladies of Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zeland, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Colombia conducted “A Walk Through Time” historic tour around the Walled City.
The tour, which was specially designed for delegates’ spouses, aims to present glimpses of life in the Philippines during the Spanish period.
It also includes a photo exhibit, cultural dance as well as music performances from Derek Ramsay, Mateo Guidicelli, Ogie Alcasid, Angeline Quinto and Erick Santos.
The event is expected to end with a bazaar where first ladies can shop for Philippine-made products.
Meanwhile, the first ladies will take home a special token of appreciation from the Philippines.
In a CNN report, Ito Kish, a Manila-based designer, said that each first lady will receive the Kristina Bukid Set, a tea set showcasing Philippines’ bahay kubo and carabao.
The report said that the souvenir was named after presidential sister, actress Kris Aquino.
