Youth groups to mark 2nd ‘Yolanda’ anniversary in Manila
Kabataan Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon on Friday said that the second anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda will be marked with prayers and candle-lighting ceremony in Manila.
Ridon said that several youth groups are expected to offer prayers and candles for the victims of the world’s strongest typhoon at 4pm on Saturday at the Liwasang Bonifacio.
Meanwhile, dubbed as Candlelight Memorial Year 2, thousands of survivors in Leyte are also set to light at least 50,000 candles and offer prayers for the souls of those who died during the super typhoon on Sunday.
Super Typhoon Yolanda slammed Eastern Visayas and parts of Western and Central Visayas on November 8, 2013, killing 6,300 people, dislocated a population of 4.1 million, and damaged or destroyed 1.1 million homes.
